Nihiwatu, Sumba, Indonesia

Enough of sunsets. I wanted to capture daylight, blue skyes, blue ocean, warm water – the time of day you recommend your children to stay out of the Sun, but they don’t obey… Or if you’re not too nitpicking, when you stay in the shade, on the mattress, having a drink and whatching them play in the pool.

I also did it for the challenge, Under such a harsh light, would it be possible to capture the idea with minimum quality? How far could I push the limits of HDR? With enough patience, far enough. Yes, it’s not pixel sharp, but it captures the atmosphere. You feel like putting on the sunglasses! To get both the beach and the pool I needed the fisheye, though, without the magic ED glass and front light, colour fringing was an issue I had to take care, later, on post.
